I greatly enjoy his story lines and especially his characters, a group of Characters about whom the reader grows to actually care.The story opens with an American missile submarine sunk of the coast of North Korea in the Sea of Japan; it is the opening move in a madman's plan to plunge the world into war. A day later the Chinese ambassador to Washington is assassinated driving to the White House. Meanwhile, the unstable leader of North Korea prepares to attack America with a terrible weapon. Even worse, the U.S. has a leak, a General feeding information to an American billionaire, whose company builds high tech military equipment.
“High Alert,” the fourteenth in the series, is another exciting book, and it is very apt at the moment as it focuses on North Korea and their drive to develop a nuclear bomb. "High Alert" grabs the reader from the beginning and the velocity of excitement does not slow. Although the book can stand alone, I strongly suggest that you begin with the first book so you can appreciate the character development and continuity even more. So why not just suspend reality for a while, relax, read, and enjoy the ride. That is far more enjoyable thing to do then sort socks. I really enjoy this series and recommend it to you.

I have read all of the books in the Project series and am downright hooked! "High Alert" grabs the reader from the get go and the velocity of excitement does not slow down until the end. . Uncanny timeliness with current events involving North Korea, China, Russia and the USA sometimes had me reminding myself that I was indeed, reading fiction. Alex Lukeman does not disappoint. I wait with baited breath for the next Project Series to come out.
Book 14 has the team back together for a very up to date scenario that is very well written. I have read them all and High Alert is great! It definitely deserves the 5 Stars. Highly Recommended if you have been following the Project Team. If you haven't, go back to Book 1 and start the series. You won't be disappointed!
Once again, the Project Team comes to the rescue of the whole world, with only minor injuries (whilst enemies drop all around them -).
It's a fun ride and entertaining (not to take the seriousness of the plot lightly). It's a quick read; really moves along and keeps your interest. I like all the characters (love Freddie!!) and always look forward to the next one!
This 14th in the Project series is too close to reality for comfort. Technology has advanced far enough that in the hands of mad men, all could be lost. Also, the Project team is aging and battle scarred. How long will they be able to stand between us and so many enemies? Can they defuse the conflicts once again? See for yourself.
I enjoyed the addition of Freddie to the team. Once again, they solved an impossible problem with complex angles. We can only hope that the real world powers can actually do some similar cooperating to save the world from disaster.
High Alert is a complicated tangle of American rich and powerful man bent on revenge and hatred for humanity, mad dictator of North Korea aiming nuclear rockets at the US, China, Russia and any other country he can reach and a desperate race of the Project people to stop the deadly game before the whole world would disappear in nuclear flame.
Loved it and eagerly waiting for the next book of Alex Lukeman!

This fact paced exciting thriller is like reading page from today's news. The story line is excellent, A nutjob North Korean leader ready to drop a nuclear bomb with a few exciting twists. It is well written and has good, highly likeable, interesting, and believable characters. What else can you ask for? It has left me wanting more and interested in reading the other books in the Project Series, and there are currently 17 books in the series. I would strongly recommend this book to fans of Action Adventure books, you won't be disappointed. I enjoyed this book so much that after reading the ARC I purchased a copy of the book.
